Pavithra Chari is a graduate of Psychology from Lady Shri Ram College for women. She is a Delhi based musician/vocalist, and is one half of the contemporary classical project Shadow and Light, with Anindo Bose (Advaita). Having been trained in Hindustani classical under Shri Satya Narayan Maharana for over ten years she is currently honing her musical skills under the tutelage of Smt. Shubha Mudgal. She is a UNESCO and CID (France) certified creative movement/expressive arts therapist trained in Fortis hospital, Gurgaon. She is currently working as a researcher focusing on curriculum development at Music Basti, an organization that enables life skills training through music education to underprivileged children in New Delhi. She is a trained Bharatnatyam dancer and regularly conducts music, dance and expressive arts workshops with children and adults.Expressive Arts Based therapy approach for mental health and well-being is a tool to create spaces for expression, dealing with issues of self, identity, behavior and emotional difficulty.
At the Kahaani Festival, she will be conducting workshops using Creative Art Therapy which uses different art forms to impart life skills.
Creative Art Therapy is the application of different art forms and the creative process within a workshop, to enhance the psycho-social health, interpersonal skills, personal development, team Building, trust, body image, stress release, risk Taking, confidence and communication, concentration and focus, self and body awareness and quality of life of individuals of all ages.
