Mohammed Shameem

Shameem’s foray into the world of puppetry started at the age of 15, with Shri Kapil Dev, Director of Samarpan, who mentored him and taught him the basics of the art form such as movements of rod puppets and sculpting his own puppets, a technique that he studied further under the tutelage of the internationally renowned sculptor, Shri K S Radhakrishnan. He later joined one of India’s foremost contemporary puppeteers, Dadi D. Pudumjee’s Ishara Puppet Theatre Trust in 2004 and has since then, performed all across the globe as a part of various productions, under his guidance. His years of learning and performing with Dadi D. Pudumjee and Katkatha Puppet Arts Trust’s Anurupa Roy, led him to establish his own theatre company in 2009, called Puppetshala Performing Arts.
